Peas for hypertension and kidney diseases
The researchers in Canada have reported that the proteins found peas are promising additives in food or natural dietary supplements, as a novel way to the fight against the arterial hypertension and chronic kidney disease (CKD), which threaten the living conditions affecting millions of people around the world.
The study will be presented at the American Chemical Society of the 237th National Meeting, determines that it is the first natural food that can relieve symptoms of CKD, according to the scientists say.
The peas have long been recognized as nutritional superstars, have healthy amounts of protein, dietary fiber, vitamins and a low-fat, no cholesterol.
The new research focuses on yellow peas, which is one of the pillars as a dish of plant and side is used as an ingredient in dozens of recipes from around the world.
“In people with high blood pressure, our protein could delay or prevent the emergence of kidney damage,” said the study presenter Rotimi Aluko, a chemical food at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.
“The people who already have the kidney disease, our protein can help them to maintain normal blood pressure levels so that they can live longer”.
The high blood pressure or high blood pressure is an important risk factor for the CKD, a condition that has been affecting a growing number of people in the United States and other countries.
The estimates indicate that 13 percent of the people or some 26 million people have a chronic kidney disease, compared with 10 percent, approximately 20 million people, in the 1990S
